Solid State Logic Unveils SSL 18: A Game-Changer in Rackmount Audio Interfaces
Anaheim, CA, January 23, 2025 — Solid State Logic (Booth 18301) announced the launch of the SSL 18 rackmount USB audio interface during a press conference at the 2025 NAMM Show. This innovative device marks a significant leap in rackmount production technology, leveraging SSL’s renowned expertise in both analogue and digital design.
Engineered to deliver premium quality and the signature SSL sound, the SSL 18 is poised to become the new industry standard. Its compact 19-inch design houses advanced features that elevate the performance of any recording, production, or mixing space.

Best-in-Class Audio Performance
The SSL 18 boasts next-generation 32-bit/192 kHz converters, providing exceptional dynamic range performance. With a 120 dB dynamic range on microphone, line-level, and instrument inputs, it captures every detail of a performance with stunning accuracy.
The interface’s monitor and line outputs feature a 125 dB dynamic range, ensuring impeccable sound fidelity. Its integrated high-current amplifier offers dual headphone outputs with 120 dB dynamic range, providing an immersive listening experience.
High-Performance Microphone Preamplifiers
Eight SSL-designed high-performance mic preamplifiers form the heart of the SSL 18. These preamps feature switchable mic/line configurations, ultra-low noise floors, and a massive dynamic range. Each input can also be activated in Legacy 4K Analogue Enhancement Mode, offering real analogue saturation and a musical high-frequency boost.
Inputs 1 & 2 are conveniently placed on the front panel, featuring instrument/Hi-Z inputs for capturing direct input (DI) guitars and vintage synths/drums.
“SSL 18 embodies our commitment to crafting a 19-inch rack audio interface that delivers SSL quality. Our engineering team applied their analogue and digital design expertise to exceed expectations. With the powerful SSL 360 software, SSL 18 delivers a world-class studio experience to any setup. We’re eager for everyone to experience its sound and workflow.” — Andy Jackson, Senior Product Manager, Studio.

Line Outputs and Monitoring Control
The SSL 18 includes 10 balanced line-level outputs located at the rear of the unit. Line outputs 1&2 and 3&4 offer +9 or +24 dBu configuration options, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of studio monitors and vintage equipment. Outputs 3 to 10 operate at +24 dBu, ideal for integrating professional outboard equipment.
All outputs are DC-coupled and capable of sending Control Voltage (CV) to synthesizers and modular rigs. Additionally, the SSL 18 features alternative speaker switching and cut controls for pairs 1&2 and 3&4, located directly on the front panel.
The interface also features a dedicated Talkback input, configured with the classic SSL Listen Mic Compressor (LMC). This feature allows users to process audio signals through the LMC, suitable for effects like crushing drums or parallel vocals.
Scalability and Integration
With extensive I/O options, the SSL 18 is highly scalable, offering a flexible setup for any professional or desktop audio environment. The interface supports ADAT and S/PDIF connections, enabling users to expand the mic or line-level I/O count by 18 channels. It also includes a dedicated Word Clock output for rock-solid clocking with external digital devices.
SSL Production Pack and Complete Access
The SSL 18 comes bundled with the SSL Production Pack, a comprehensive collection of essential virtual instruments, plugins, samples, and DAWs. This includes Harrison Mixbus 10 (valued at over $1100). Additionally, users receive a 6-month trial of Complete Access, which includes plug-ins from SSL, Slate Digital, and Harrison Audio.
