The Minister has mentioned the matter through a post published on his Twitter social media account.
He also pointed out that there was an increase of 11.4 percent in January this year compared to January last year.
Tourism development
In January last year, Sri Lankans living abroad sent 437.5 million US dollars to Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, 60,122 foreign tourists have visited Sri Lanka in the first 8 days of February.
According to this, the Tourism Development Authority has said that 268,375 tourists have visited the country so far this year.
Worker remittences for the month of January 2024 amounts to 487.6 USD million. Increase in 11.4 % compared to year 2023.
