Apple’s aspiring upgrade to Siri, initially showcased alongside Apple Intelligence, may not see the light of day until Spring 2026, according to Bloomberg reports. The company officially delayed the release of the enhanced Siri earlier this year,setting a vague timeline of “in the coming year.”

Sources suggest the new Siri could be integrated into a planned iOS 26.4 update, possibly arriving in March 2026. Apple initially unveiled the smarter, more personalized Siri at WWDC 2024, making the potential gap between announcement and release nearly two years. While Apple might showcase the updated AI assistant again at its fall iPhone event or even release it sooner, the timing remains uncertain.

The proposed Siri update aims to empower the voice assistant to perform actions within apps and comprehend on-screen content and context. Demonstrations highlighted Siri’s ability to reference emails for flight details and embed photos into documents autonomously, showcasing its enhanced capabilities.

Apple executives attribute the delay of the new Siri to it simply not being up to the company’s standards.

Apple’s cautious approach was evident in its more subdued focus on AI at WWDC 2025. The closest glimpse of the new Siri’s potential was the updated Spotlight in macOS 26, which utilizes the same App Intents framework intended for Siri. This allows users to perform specific actions within apps, such as sending a text in Messages, without directly opening the application.
