JAKARTA, investor.id – The cinema business is increasingly enthusiastic with the rise of quality films produced by local Indonesian film companies. Various technologies are presented to attract the audience, the latest being Magnify8 technology for sensory chairs.
This technology was officially introduced through Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia’s strategic partnership with LUMMA, as well as marking the launch of seven Lumma Magnify8 cinemas in various main cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Medan, Serang, Banjarbaru, Malang, Pekanbaru and Sidoarjo.
This technology is designed to be an atmosphere enhancer that deepens the emotion of the story, not just a technological effect. Subtle vibrations that are synchronized with the audio and dynamics of the film on the screen allow the audience to feel the atmosphere and tension more immersively, remain comfortable, and do not disturb their focus on watching.
“Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia is bringing the Magnify8 chair to the Indonesian market. This is an innovative step designed to enhance the cinematic experience of our guests,” said Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia CEO Alejandro, Aguilera Garibay.
This step strengthens Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia’s position as a cinema network that consistently curates and integrates innovative technology into its portfolio of cinema formats.
Magnify8 will make its debut in Indonesia in November 2025 with launches in four strategic locations, namely Cinépolis Senayan Park Jakarta, Plaza Medan Fair, Mall of Serang, and Qmall Banjarbaru. Expansion continues in December 2025 with the opening of Cinépolis Malang Town Square, Living World Pekanbaru, Lippo Plaza Sidoarjo, as well as further development plans in various other cities.
The Magnify8 feature is equipped with eight vibration points that are programmed independently and fully synchronized with the audio and rhythm of the film. Magnify8 creates an atmosphere that feels natural, enhancing the emotion of the story without causing physical fatigue or visual distraction.
This approach makes Magnify8 accessible to a wider spectrum of audiences, including young, adult and elderly audiences. In fact, its gentle vibrations are often interpreted as a relaxing sensation, expanding the function of sensory technology from a niche format to an inclusive and scalable experience enhancement.
Local Films Are Increasingly Premium
In Indonesia, the Magnify8 format presents a variety of content, from Hollywood films to local films. The first film shown in the Magnify8 format is Zootopia 2 from Disney, which was then followed by local film screenings Stomach 2 And Janur Ireng, as well as films Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The presence of Magnify8 opens up opportunities for local films to be enjoyed in premium cinema formats as the next leap, providing deeper emotional experiences across genres—from animation to drama and action—through an approach that still prioritizes audience comfort.
Meanwhile, Sebastián Franco, Partner and COO of LUMMA, said that the launch of Magnify8 in Indonesia strengthens the global partnership that has been established with Cinépolis Indonesia.
“We are proud to announce the launch of Magnify8 in collaboration with Cinépolis Indonesia in several leading cinemas throughout Indonesia. This important moment further strengthens our long-term collaboration with Cinépolis, which has successfully implemented our 4D E-Motion technology in Argentina, Europe and the Middle East,” said Sebastián.
