Senegalese Pilgrims Scammed by Travel agency Ahead of Hajj 2025

At least six pilgrims were defrauded by an unapproved agency, highlighting the risks associated with unofficial travel arrangements.

At least six Senegalese pilgrims preparing for the Hajj 2025 have fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by a travel agency named Alboraq, according to a statement from the general delegation to the pilgrimage.

The general delegation to the pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam (DGP) released a press statement on Friday, May 23, 2025, confirming that the pilgrims were scammed by Alboraq, which had enlisted them for the HAJJ 2025 but failed to secure their visas.

A formal complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) against Abu Kane, the agency director, who is currently outside Senegal. The DGP has reminded prospective pilgrims that only officially approved agencies are authorized to organize pilgrimages and urged them to seek reliable details from the DGP before making any commitments.

Official Warning Issued to pilgrims

The DGP recalls that only approved agencies can organize the pilgrimage and invites the candidates to get closer to it for reliable information before committing.

The incident underscores the importance of verifying the credentials of travel agencies offering Hajj packages to avoid potential fraud and ensure a safe and legitimate pilgrimage experience.
