South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has announced that Alexandra Feiner, 24, of Pierre, has been charged with multiple counts related to the alleged falsification of her medical marijuana card while employed by the South Dakota Department of Health.

Feiner faces one felony count of Forgery, which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment. She is also charged with one felony count of Offering a False or Forged Instrument for Filing, Registering or Recording, punishable by up to two years in prison, and one felony count of Possession of a Forged Instrument, which also carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment. Additionally, she is charged with one misdemeanor count of Falsification of Public Records by a Public Officer or Employee, which could result in up to one year in county jail.

Authorities allege that Feiner circumvented the requirement for medical provider certification and avoided the associated fee in obtaining her medical marijuana card.

“The defendant is charged with using her position of trust as a Department of Health employee for her benefit,” stated Attorney General Jackley. “This type of conduct reflects poorly on those state government employees who work hard for South Dakotans.”

The alleged offenses are reported to have occurred between March 2024 and March 2025.The South Dakota Department of Health reportedly cooperated with the investigation conducted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

As of this release, Feiner has not been scheduled for an initial court appearance. However, under the U.S.Constitution, she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
