Brittany Fortinberry, the former Indiana school teacher accused of engaging in sexual encounters with minors while they wore “Scream” masks, has been ordered by a judge to sell her marital home. This decision comes as she remains in jail awaiting trial.

Court documents reveal that Fortinberry and her husband, Nicholas, claim they can no longer afford the property, which is also the location where police allege some of the crimes occurred. Nicholas filed for divorce in February, coinciding with the start of the criminal examination against Brittany.

The divorce filings indicate that the couple previously relied on monthly benefits from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to cover their bills. However, these payments are no longer being deposited into their joint bank account.

Fortinberry alleges that her VA funds are being diverted “elsewhere,” preventing Nicholas from accessing the money and making it tough for him to keep up with house payments.

As a result, the judge granted Nicholas’s request to put their home on the market. The exact date and listing price are yet to be determined.

earlier this year, Fortinberry was charged with 41 felonies related to her alleged sex crimes involving minors. She is accused of sexually abusing multiple junior high students from two different schools.

Authorities claim that Brittany would provide the students with alcohol and magic mushrooms before engaging in sexual activity with them. One alleged incident involved an orgy where the boys wore masks inspired by the “Scream” movie franchise.

Fortinberry has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody awaiting trial.
