It was reported that education in public and private schools at all levels throughout the province will be suspended for one day due to the commemoration program and cemetery visits on the 3rd anniversary of the earthquake disaster that occurred on February 6, 2023 in Kahramanmaraş.
In the statement made by the Governorship, it was stated that on the anniversary of the earthquakes on February 6, 2023, centered in Kahramanmaraş, traffic congestion may occur due to commemoration programs to be held in the province and cemetery and condolence visits by citizens.

“Education in public and private schools at all levels throughout our city was suspended for 1 day on Friday, February 6, 2026. All employees in public institutions and organizations will be considered on administrative leave on February 6, 2026, provided that the necessary precautions are taken by the administrators of the institution and the services are not disrupted and the minimum level of personnel is kept to carry out the mandatory services (health, transportation, public order/security, etc.).”
ARE SCHOOLS CLOSED IN HATAY ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6?
According to the decision of the Provincial Hygiene Board in Hatay, it was decided by the Provincial Directorate of National Education to have a 1-day holiday in educational institutions throughout the province due to the anniversary of the earthquake disaster. Provincial and District Directorate of National Education personnel will also be considered on administrative leave, provided that the institutions have minimum personnel.
ARE SCHOOLS CLOSED IN GAZİANTEP ON FEBRUARY 6?
In the statement made by Gaziantep Governorship, it was stated that education and training were suspended for 1 day throughout the province on Friday, February 6. Necessary precautions will be taken by the institution managers and a minimum number of personnel will be kept to ensure that the services are not interrupted and that the mandatory services are carried out.
IS 6 FEBRUARY A PUBLIC HOLIDAY?
