A Weekend of Devotion: Seville’s Religious Festivities Underway

Seville is currently immersed in a vibrant display of religious fervor, marking the beginning of its celebrated season of processions. The festivities officially commenced this past Friday with the solemn proclamation by Fernando Vaz at the esteemed Collegiate Church of Divine Salvador. Adding to the spiritual atmosphere, the Brotherhood of the Homeless of alcosa was ceremoniously transferred to preside over the unfolding events.

Sunday’s Processions: Virgin of Health and San José Obrero Take to the Streets

Today, Sunday, May 4th, sees the first of the Letric Brotherhoods taking centre stage with their annual processions. Two brotherhoods, in particular, are scheduled to parade through the city: the Virgin of Health and San José Obrero.

Virgin of Health Procession: Route and Musical Accompaniment

The Brotherhood of the Virgin of Health,originating from the Parish Temple of San Isidoro,is scheduled to begin its procession at 7:30 PM.The route will wind through the heart of Seville, following a path that includes Cuesta del Rosario, francos, Chapineros, Álvarez Quintero, entrecárceles, Plaza de San Francisco, Granada, Tetuán, jovellanos, Sagasta, Águilas, and Jesús de las Tres Caídas. The procession is expected to return to its canonical headquarters by 10:20 PM. the musical accompaniment for this procession will be provided by the esteemed “El Liceo” music band from Moguer.

San José Obrero Procession: A Neighborhood Celebration

Simultaneously, the Brotherhood of San José Obrero will be conducting its procession through its local neighborhood, commencing at 7:00 PM.The procession will start from Samaniego and is anticipated to conclude around 11:30 PM. The musical group “los Gitanos” will provide the soundtrack for this neighborhood celebration.
