A fatal shooting occurred this Thursday evening on rue Gillon, in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. Alerted around 7:20 p.m., emergency services attempted to resuscitate a victim shot, in vain. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has been seized.



The events took place this Thursday, January 29 in the early evening, in the town of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, in the center of Brussels. A call to 112 reported gunshots heard on rue Gillon shortly after 7:20 p.m. The police services of the Brussels North zone, as well as the emergency services, quickly intervened on the spot. When they arrived, police and rescue teams discovered a victim on the ground with gunshot wounds, police said. Resuscitation maneuvers were immediately undertaken, without success. According to the police press release, the victim is an adult man, who succumbed to his injuries.

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office was immediately informed and ordered several investigative tasks. The judicial authorities went to the site in the evening. The perimeter was completely cordoned off, with the deployment of protective screens and a forensic tent. At this stage, no additional details are communicated on the exact circumstances of the facts or on possible arrests. “In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, no further comments will be made at this time,” police said. The investigation is ongoing.
