Saanenmöser Snowboarder Death – Crash Details

On Saturday morning, a snowboarding accident in the Saanersloch ski area (municipality of Saanen) was reported to the Bern cantonal police. According to initial findings, a snowboarder was on a marked piste from the Saanersloch mountain station towards the intermediate station when, for reasons that have yet to be clarified, he collided with a barrier in the Horrengraben region. As a result, he fell and remained motionless.

The snowboarder’s companions and several first aiders provided first aid to the accident victim and alerted the rescue services. Despite the rescue measures that were immediately initiated, the seriously injured snowboarder died at the scene of the accident. The deceased was a 40-year-old Swiss man from the canton of Friborg.

In addition to various services from the Bern Canton Police, the SOS Saanenmöser piste and rescue service, a Rega team and the Bern Canton Care Team were on duty. The Bern cantonal police have started investigations to clarify what happened to the accident.
