Russia Sanctions: Aircraft Spare Parts Request

by Archynetys World Desk

Russia’s sanctions have cut off from direct access to aircraft and spare parts of foreign production. Russian airlines had to look for alternative ways to get spare parts for approximately 700 airbuses and boeing in their pilots.

But the source of Russian aviation told Reuters that some parts could not be found through intermediaries, which means that a large part of western aircraft could be grounded in the near future.

The Russian authorities are now trying to convince ICAO that sanctions are threatening air security. The application was submitted after the United States abolished the sanctions imposed on Belarusian Airlines Belavia, which was also punished in connection with Belarusian support for Russian invasion. The Russians want to discuss the matter at a meeting of the organization that will be held this week in Montreal.

ICAO, which is in charge of setting global security standards, has officially criticized Moscow for disrupting the sovereignty of the Ukrainian airspace and for the double registration of Russian aircraft. The Russians appeal to the organization in their request that sanctions go against global security rules.

“Unlawful coercive means violate human right to freedom of movement regardless of nationality and citizenship. ICAO is obliged to take all practical steps to prevent individual states from applying politically biased, discriminatory and coercive means in the field of international civil aviation,” he says.

Several incidents from recent months have been indicative of the rapid decline of the technical condition of Russian aircraft. In July, for example, in the east of the country, the aircraft Antonov An-24 crashed in 1976, while all 48 people on board died. At the same time, Russian air transport is also influenced by the prukupy cyberútoc. One of them grounded dozens of flights of Russian Aeroflot in the summer.

Russia has been invading Ukraine for more than three years and has not yet been stopped. But sanctions make his plans more difficult. The Reuters source indicated that if there was an accident in Russia soon in Russia, the Kremlin could use it to support its claim of disproportionality of sanctions.

“When Russian Boeing or Airbus collapses in the near future, and people will die, what then? Anyway, it will be handball on sanctions,” the anonymous source commented.

In its application submitted to ICAO, it further criticizes a series of suspension licenses for Russian airlines aircraft, bans on maintenance and insurance of Russian aircraft, and that 37 countries closed their air space to Russian aircraft. At the same time, Russia in Montreal will strive to election to the management board of an organization with 36 countries. Shortly after the start of the invasion of Ukraine, it ran for the council, but it did not win enough votes.
