She prevailed against eight competitors: Rose Mondy is the new Miss Germany. The election took place on Saturday evening in the Bavaria Film Studios.
On Saturday evening, Rose Mondy from Herne was crowned the new Miss Germany in the Bavaria Studios in Grünwald near Munich. The 26-year-old streamer beat eight other candidates in the final – including a scientist from Würzburg and a Bundeswehr officer. According to the organizer Miss Germany Studios, a total of around 2,600 women applied for the title.
Mondy is primarily known as a streamer on the Twitch platform. There she can be seen playing video games like “Minecraft” or “Fortnite”. At the same time, she speaks openly in her streams about her language problems and the everyday racism that she experiences as the daughter of Syrian parents in Germany.
“I show that you don’t have to be perfect to be successful,” she told the German Press Agency after her victory.
The 26-year-old told the “Bild” newspaper that women experience much more on the Internet than criticism. There are still many hurdles for women to be taken seriously. Compared to men, women could not be ambitious and set the tone because: “We are not the big boss, but the big diva.”
Mondy also criticized the fact that women are still judged more based on their appearance rather than their performance. During her speech on stage, the streamer also spoke about fighting against misogyny and sexualization: “Every woman here knows what I’m talking about.”
Nine women reached the final. They competed against each other in three categories. Mondy initially won in the “Female Mover” category. Women who assert themselves in traditionally male domains are honored there.
Also making it into the top three were: Anne Bäumler from Assenheim in Hesse, who leads a team of more than 800 employees at a drugstore chain, and Amelie Reigl from Würzburg. The biologist is doing her doctorate on how human skin can be grown in the laboratory in order to reduce animal testing. The Würzburg resident also publishes videos on TikTok about her everyday life as a scientist.
