Manchester United are experiencing happy times, after achieving their third consecutive victory in the Premier League, thanks to victories over Sunderland (2-0), Liverpool (2-1) and Brighton (4-2).
Rio Ferdinand, former Red Devils player, showed on the podcast that he respects Ruben Amorim for maintaining the game system during this most delicate phase, but considered it a risky move.
“I admire that to a certain extent, but I think he’s playing Russian roulette with his job. I don’t think he’s changed drastically, he’s just adjusted a little. That’s what a lot of fans were asking for. Just adjusting what we already have. Maybe not being so aggressive, maybe being a little more conservative in moments when we don’t have possession of the ball,” he said.
“You can’t press, press, press for 90 minutes unless you’re an absolutely monstrous team. PSG does that. This manager couldn’t do that with this squad. Sometimes that’s the way it goes. We can look back in six months and, say Manchester United end up in the Champions League or something like that, he’ll probably sit there with confidence and say, ‘Well, if I had changed, I would be unemployed, doing things that are strange to me'”, he added.
