The Red Wings are in a perfect position to be buyers. As of this writing, they have a record of 33-19-6 and are fourth in the Atlantic Division standings. This is because the 2.03m defenseman was recently ruled out by the Canucks for the February game against the Winnipeg Jets due to trade reasons. Myers will have the final say on whether he is traded or not. This is because the veteran defenseman has a full no-movement clause for the rest of this season. He then moves to a 12-team non-trade list for the 2026-27 season, which will be the final year of his contract.

With the Red Wings needing another right-handed defenseman, it makes perfect sense that they would be interested in Myers. He would noticeably improve the right side of their defense and would be a good veteran for Detroit as they look to make the playoffs for the first time in nine years.
