EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The East Lansing Police Department has identified the woman found dead in the Red Cedar River on Oct. 13.

Police say the woman is 32-year-old Canadian woman Meagan Turner.

Turner was a doctoral candidate studying at Michigan State University. Officials say her family has been notified.

Police do not believe foul play was involved.

ELPD will continue to investigate all options and leads in this case, but we do not have reason at this point to believe there is an ongoing risk to public safety,” said ELPD Police Chief Jen Brown.

Turner’s body was found in the Red Cedar just east of Cedar Village on Monday, Oct. 13. Police initially described her as an “unidentified middle-aged woman.”
