A collective in Villeurbanne is set to host an event featuring discussions and signings with six queer authors, highlighting themes of identity, resilience, and community.
The city of VILLEURBANNE will be the site of a special event celebrating queer voices in literature. A local collective is proudly presenting an afternoon dedicated to discussion and book signings with six authors from the LGBTQ+ community.
Among the featured authors is Erika Nomeni, whose 2024 self-fiction work, Love of ourselves, delves into complex themes such as racism, addiction, and the experience of being a multi-minority individual. Nomeni, who is also a DJ and rapper, previously contributed to the collective work Dykes.
Nanténé Traoré and Mécété Rhea, authors of To the coming task (that of burying the world), published by Au editions Bleu, will also be present. Their work explores navigating the end of the world and environmental threats, emphasizing the importance of building connections in the face of collapse.
Sid Glorious, known for the comics Autopsy of echoes in my head and under the belt, will address themes of sexist and sexual violence in their work.
Lostmemory, author of Invalid number, is dedicated to raising awareness about and stopping intersex mutilation. Paulo Higgins, author of You wanted my warmth, you will have my fire, will discuss the meaning of chosen family. Higgins also co-founded the Baham Arts collective in MARSEILLE with Erika Nomeni, aiming to support marginalized artists. Attendees will have the possibility to purchase the authors’ works on site.
