New Orleans Saints Suffers Historic Six-Game Losing Streak Despite QB Change
Inglewood, Calif. — A Desperate Chasing Nothing in an L.A. November Clash
New Orleans Saints had to make a change to quarterback in the third quarter, hoping for a spark that never came. With men on the outside looking in, coach Dennis Allen’s call to bench rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler in favor of Jake Haener was not enough to end the Saints’ slumping season.
A Loss of Rhythm and Yardage
Spencer Rattler was clearly struggling in the first three quarters, completing just half his pass attempts. Losing seven of nine possessions against the Los Angeles Chargers showed the Saints’ failing rhythm. Rattler was removed with 4:50 left in the third quarter, and Haener struggled, completing 9 of his 17 attempts for 122 yards. Three drives into scoring range for Haener were ineffective, showcasing the void in the Saints’ game plan.
Late and Missed Opportunities Haunt Saints
Quarterbacks aside, the Saints attempted just three passes in the end zone. Each drive, which epitomized desperation more than precision, failed to make the difference.Instagram Embed#20
