During the meeting held today, Monday in Jeddah, the leaders discussed the efforts made to contain tensions in light of the rapid developments taking place in the region, according to a statement by the Qatari Emiri Diwan.

The statement added that the meeting discussed the continued Iranian aggression against the Gulf states and the region, and the growing challenges it poses to regional and international security and stability, including its repercussions on global energy supplies and the stability of its markets.

The three leaders also exchanged views on the most prominent issues of common interest, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and close consultation regarding various developments, in a way that reflects the depth of the fraternal and strategic relations that bring together the sisterly countries, and enhances their common interests.

The leaders stressed the need to unify efforts and coordinate positions to confront the current challenges, in a way that contributes to enhancing the security and stability of the region, preserving the sovereignty of its countries, and protecting the interests of its peoples.

The Emir of the State of Qatar said – in a tweet on the X platform – that he discussed with the Saudi Crown Prince the developments of the situation in the region, and the escalation it is witnessing that reflects on security and stability at the regional and international levels.

Before leaving Jeddah, the Emir of Qatar stressed the necessity of coordinating efforts and strengthening joint action in a way that supports peaceful solutions and limits the repercussions of the current stage.

For his part, the Saudi Crown Prince stressed that the continuation of “the sinful Iranian attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the targeting of vital installations and civilian facilities, represents an extremely dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region,” according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was accompanied by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, the Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the Head of the Emiri Court Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khalifi, and a number of senior officials.

These diplomatic moves coincide with the escalation of regional tensions, in light of Iranian attacks with missiles and drones on Gulf countries since February 28, against the backdrop of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Tehran says that the attacks target American bases in the region, describing them as a “military response” to the American-Israeli strikes. However, according to official reports, these attacks caused damage to civilian facilities in a number of Gulf countries, including airports, ports, and buildings, some of which are residential.
