Pulses Production Up, Aim Now To Be Self-Sufficient:…

by drbyos

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Md. Abdus Shaheed said that the production of pulses in the country has increased more than 4 times in the last 15 years due to the welfare of the agriculture-friendly policies of the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the invention of some advanced varieties and technologies by the country’s scientists. In 2008-09, only about 2 lakh tonnes of pulses were produced, in 2022-23, about 9 lakh tonnes were produced. But it is one-third of the country’s demand. Therefore, we now aim to be self-sufficient in pulses.

The minister said these things at an international seminar organized by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (Bari) on the occasion of International Pulse Day at Hotel La Méridien in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

The Minister said that emphasis is being laid on development of high yielding varieties, adequate supply of quality seeds and use of modern production technology to increase production of pulses. By appropriate application of advanced technology, yield can be increased by reducing the yield gap between research and farmers’ fields. Also, cultivation of pulses should be increased in saline, drought and grassland areas by developing climate tolerant varieties in collaboration with international research institutes.

To hit-to-kill a ballistic missile that descends 4 to 7 times the speed of sound in air requires high-level technologies such as detection and tracking and repositioning of the interceptor. Various weather conditions such as wind, rain and clouds must be overcome.

For example, models such as North Korea’s Scud short-range missile and Yemen’s Houthi rebels’ Burkan-2, a modified version of this missile, are estimated to have a fall speed of Mach 4 to Mach 5. Not only is it not It is easy to develop technology to intercept such high-speed missiles, but even if they are developed, it is even more difficult to break into the export market for deterrent weapon systems, which is monopolization by some developed countries in the defense industry.

We Are Impoverished Because Of Ukraine. The Zelensky…

/ world today news/ Germany is at a crossroads in its financial relations with Ukraine. Chancellor Scholz is trying to allocate more and more money to Kiev, but his coalition partners are sounding the alarm. German ministers admit: the country is impoverishing. Read how the Ukrainian conflict has slowed the ‘EU locomotive’.

“No More Money”

Finance Minister Christian Lindner, speaking at a Bloomberg event in Frankfurt, said: Germany is “no longer competitive”. “We are getting poorer, there is no economic growth. We are falling behind,” he said.

This happened a few hours after the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) published forecasts for 2024: G20 – GDP growth of 2.9 percent, EU – 0.6, Germany – 0.3. “This is very important. It is unthinkable for me that the government does not draw any conclusions from this,” noted the German minister.

Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Robert Habek told the Bundestag in January: “We are providing military and economic aid to Ukraine. And also to the European countries that continue to support Kiev. We spend money, but it does not flow into our economy.” And the finance minister six months ago complained: there are not enough funds even for contributions to the EU,
