Pottstown Man Jailed: Facebook Harassment of Police Officer

NORRISTOWN — A Pottstown man who used Facebook to harass a New Hanover Township police officer on whom he was allegedly “fixated” is headed to jail.

Andre L. Wilson, 51, of the 900 block of North Washington Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 4 to 12 months in the county jail on a misdemeanor charge of harassment in connection with the November 2024 incident.

In a separate order, Judge Wendy G. Rothstein said Wilson is to have no contact with New Hanover Police Officer David Fugelo, the victim of the harassment, or his family, “that includes, but is not limited to, contact in person, through telephone, text messages, email, social media or any other electronic means. This applies to the defendant and anyone acting on behalf of the defendant.”

“Defendant is prohibited from posting anything on social media referencing Officer Fugelo or any other member of the New Hanover Township Police Department,” Rothstein wrote in the order dated Oct. 31.

A jury convicted Wilson of the harassment charge during a one-day trial in August. That jury acquitted Wilson of other misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and stalking.

The investigation began on Nov. 18, 2025, when county detectives received screenshots from the New Hanover Police Department’s Facebook page that included messages posted on Nov. 17 from a Facebook account belonging to Wilson, according to a criminal complaint filed by county Detective Carl Robinson.

The messages were directed specifically at Fugelo and allegedly included threatening remarks. Authorities uncovered another post dated Nov. 11 that referenced Fugelo, court documents indicate.

Detectives alleged Wilson’s Facebook posts appeared to be in response to an incident during which Fugelo was the arresting officer.

Based on a review of Wilson’s Facebook activity, “it appears he is fixated on Officer Fugelo,” and the comments escalated to the point of threatening violence, Robinson alleged in the criminal complaint.

The investigation determined the Facebook account was registered to Wilson and was created on Aug. 29, 2007. Authorities were able to link the Facebook account and the internet address used by the account to Wilson’s Pottstown address, according to court documents.

With the charges, detectives alleged Wilson used the Facebook account to “continually harass” Fugelo.
