Piastri Fastest: 2024 Melbourne F1 Practice 2 Results

by Archynetys Health Desk

Also in the second practice, the drivers faced reliability problems. The home driver Oscar Piastri was the fastest ahead of Antonelli and Russell.

The beginning of training was really wild. Russell had contact with Lindblad in the pits. The riders were lined up, starting and Russell was trying to squeeze between the two cars. He damaged his front wing, which had to be replaced by the mechanics.

Colapinto almost stopped on the finish line, which Lewis Hamilton had to react to. Max Verstappen stopped on the way out of the pits (similar to Lindblad in the first practice). The Red Bull driver did not return to the track until shortly before the halfway mark.

Sergio Pérez didn’t drive until 10 minutes before the end. Cadillac had to deal with sensor issues. The Mexican drove two laps and then stopped on the track.

The Aston Martin drivers drove, even though their loss was great. Alonso missed the first practice and Stroll drove only three laps. The reason was problems with the Honda power unit. But for Stroll, the second practice ended prematurely again. Earlier, Carlos Sainz also had to retire.

The Mercedes drivers got to the front, and stayed there even after switching to soft tires. However, they were later surpassed by the home team’s Oscar Piastri.

Ten minutes before the end, Max Verstappen experienced a hot moment, who got off the track in the 10th corner and jumped very wildly. The car was damaged and practice ended for Verstappen.
