The German pianist and composer Benyamin Nuss follows the musical footsteps of Japan – first by replaying computer game music, now in the new album “Home – Furusato”, with the Japanese marimba player Fumito Nunoya. Based on folk songs popular in Japan, Nuss and Nunoya together set to music the themes that are defining in Japan: the seasons, the home village, the beauty of Kyoto, the colorful ornamental carp, the longing for the past and the love for grandparents.
The small, fine Norwegian label Froya Productions consistently publishes works by female composers: in the most recent album “Froyas Sanger”, the mezzo-soprano Marit Sehl and the pianist Monica Tomescu-Rohde – both artists from Norway – interpret duos by Pauline Hall, Signe Lund and Mel Bonis. Precious pieces from the long-ignored world of female composers.
