PET to Parkinson’s: Bacteria’s Breakthrough Role

The starting point of the research is PET, an acronym in English for polyethylene terephthalate, the resistant and lightweight plastic present in food and beverage packaging. Around 50 million tons of the material are produced per year in the world, much of which ends up in landfills, incinerators or the environment, as existing recycling processes are still incomplete.
