The return of snow surprised many motorists this Saturday morning. Around 11:15 a.m., an accident occurred on the RN88 near Pertuis just after the diversion bridge at kilometer point 38.
A man in absolute emergency
According to initial information collected on site, four vehicles were involved in a collision. The circumstances of the accident are currently unknown. Emergency services treated seven injured people, including a 24-year-old man, a passenger in a Seat in BlaBlaCar who was complaining of abdominal pain. The latter was categorized as an absolute emergency. Its driver, aged 36, was categorized as a relative emergency.
Two other victims, a 33-year-old woman and her 20-month-old baby were taken care of by firefighters, as were three other women, aged 42, 79 and 97 years respectively. They were all evacuated to the emergency room of the Émile-Roux hospital center.
Two other people, aged around forty, on board a Dacia, involved in the collision, were able to get back on the road.
Traffic jams and blocked heavy goods vehicles
Traffic had to be cut off on the RN88 between Bessamorel and Le Pertuis by the gendarmerie services and the Massif Central DIR. A diversion has been put in place for light vehicles. The heavyweights had to wait. They were stuck on the side of the road during the rescue intervention, which lasted two hours.
In total, 25 firefighters from the Yssingeaux, Beaulieu-Rosières and Saint-Julien-Chapteuil centers were mobilized under the command of Lieutenant Julien Defours.
A gendarmerie investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident, but according to initial indications the weather conditions were the cause of the collision.
