One of the faces that will be key in this Independiente, confessed his fanaticism for the club, remembered his idols from 2017 and clarified which position is where he feels most comfortable on the field.

Mateo Pérez Curci is not just another boy who came to prove himself; He is a fan who fulfilled the dream of being on the inside side. “I arrived at the age of 17 from Mendoza, I participated in some tests and there were two or three of us. I was there for a couple of weeks and they told me that I was staying. Thank God I stayed in the club of which I am a fan,” he said with emotion on DSports.

Distance was not an impediment to his love for Rojo, inherited by family mandate: “My whole family on my dad’s side is from Avellaneda, all Independiente fans. Being a fan from a distance was hard. We tried to go to the Libertadores de América quite often.”

When asked about his references when he came to the audience as another fan, Mateo did not hesitate to choose two pillars of Ariel Holan‘s team: “As a kid I really liked Maxi Meza and Nico Domingo.”

Although today he is seen in the middle of the field as a central midfielder, his essence is that of a game creator. The footballer explained what his positions were like since he arrived at Villa Domínico: “Almost all my life I played as a hitter. Once I got here they started putting me at 5 and 8. I like playing at 8 a little more, there I have much more deployment.”

Finally, the youth player referred to the situation of Javier Ruiz, who is in constant conflict due to his decisions in the King of Cups. Both shared the playing field: “I spoke with him a lot. The way he handled himself was not good, but hey, they are decisions. I didn’t talk enough about that topic. We played a couple of games together in Reserve.”
