Statement of former Devaswom board members implicating A. Padmakumar in Sabarimala gold theft. It is said that Padmakumar had written the minutes in copper after they had signed them. On March 19, 2019, the Devaswom Board held a meeting and decided to assign a sponsor named Unnikrishnan Poti to paint the Kattilapali gold. In the minutes of this meeting, Padmakumar cut out the part where gold was covered with green ink and wrote “copper” and added below it that ‘the meeting has allowed this to be given away’. Padmakumar has signed in his own handwriting. The investigation team questioned the then members to find out if this was a collective decision.

The members had testified that the secretary would write down the decisions of the Devaswom board meeting in minutes that day or the next day. That draft will be shown to the members. It will be verified and signed by the members. Then the Devaswom Board President will sign. The members also stated that this is how the decision is taken. In the decision of the said day, the Devaswom secretary showed a draft written as gold covered layers and it was said that gold plating should be done in the presence of Thiruvabharanam commissioner. The members revealed to the investigation team that the correction was done by Padmakumar himself and the Devaswom Board overturned the decision. This is why Padmakumar was interrogated in detail and arrested.

Meanwhile, the investigation team also found that Unnikrishnan had visited Padmakumar’s house. This statement belongs to Padmakumar’s family members. According to the statement, Potti had come for a friendly visit.

Former members of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) have given statements that incriminate former President A. Padmakumar in the Sabarimala gold scam. They testified that Padmakumar altered the board’s completed minutes by scoring out ‘gold-plated’ and writing ‘copper’ in green ink regarding the decision to entrust Unnikrishnan Potti with gilding the door panels. Members claim the original draft, which they signed, mentioned gold, and Padmakumar made the changes unilaterally, effectively subverting the board’s decision. This testimony led to Padmakumar’s detailed questioning and subsequent arrest. The probe also revealed that the sponsor, Potti, had visited Padmakumar’s home
