PST is connected

PST is involved in the case, and is in dialogue with the police, they confirm.

– PST has been informed about the incident at the American embassy. And during the night, extra personnel have been called in. For the time being, there is no change in the threat level, says PST’s communications advisor Martin Bernsen.

He emphasizes that there is already a moderate terrorist threat level in Norway.

– We are already at a moderate level. Which is an elevated level.

Bernsen will not comment on whether PST is in contact with the US authorities.

– For the time being, we are following what is happening in the investigation, and of course we are also doing our own investigations, but I cannot comment any further.

Will not comment on injuries

The explosion was at the public entrance to the embassy.

– There are minor injuries. We are not going to comment on anything related to the type of damage, what has exploded and the like, says the task leader.

He explains that it is early in the investigation.

– This is an unacceptable incident which is taken very seriously, writes Minister of Justice Astri Aas-Hansen (Ap) in a statement sent to NTB.

She tells the news agency that the explosion is taken very seriously.

Police: Not dangerous in the area

The police have been looking for one or more perpetrators with both a dog, a drone and a helicopter.

– There will be a full investigation here for many hours. We are working to talk to witnesses, says Dellemyr.

– Are you sure that there is nothing else that can crack here?

– Yes, considering everyone who lives in the immediate area, the police have carried out searches in close connection with the embassy. We have not found anything to indicate that there should be any further danger in the area.

Wants witnesses to come forward

In a press release at 4 o’clock in the morning, the police write that they take such incidents in public spaces very seriously.

– We are investigating the case with great resources and a high priority, the press release states.

The police want tips from people who have information or who have seen something around Makrellbekken between 00 and 02 on the night of Sunday.

Sørkedalsveien was closed to traffic for a long time, but shortly after 7 o’clock on Sunday morning, the police told NRK that the roadblocks had been removed.

The police will not comment on how good the security at the embassy is.
