Orrego’s Birthday: Summer Camp Visit

by Archynetys Sports Desk

The governor of the province Marcelo Orrego He visited the department of Santa Lucía to accompany the protagonists of the 2026 Summer Colonies. Within the framework of the final stretch of this edition, which will conclude on January 30, the president highlighted the social impact of a program that this year reached more than 25 thousand San Juan residents.

Accompanied by the mayor of Santa Lucía, Juan José Orrego, the ministers of Family and Human Development, Carlos Platero and of Education, Silvia Fuentes, as well as municipal officials, the governor toured the different sectors where children, people with disabilities and older adults share recreation and learning activities.
As is now a tradition, the governor took the opportunity to celebrate his birthday with those in attendance.

“Being here today, celebrating another year of life surrounded by the energy of our children and the respect of our elders, is the best gift. These neighborhoods are not just a place of recreation, they are the heart of San Juan beating with equality and opportunities for all,” said the governor.

It should be noted that, beyond recreation, the colonies are consolidated as an economic and social engine:
Sanjuanino Work: This year more than 3,000 workers were hired, including teachers, instructors, lifeguards and kitchen staff.
• Labor Inclusion: The incorporation of 30 people with disabilities to the work team was highlighted, doubling the figure from the previous year thanks to the excellent results obtained in 2025.
• Health and Nutrition: The program guarantees breakfasts and lunches adapted for people with celiac disease, diabetes and allergies, in addition to carrying out dental check-ups and vaccination campaigns.

On the other hand, the tour of Santa Lucía is just a sample of what happens from Tuesday to Friday in the 92 properties distributed throughout the province. In these spaces, the offer ranges from swimming and traditional sports (football, hockey, volleyball) to chess, martial arts, folk dance and recycling workshops.

For older people, the neighborhood has been a well-being refuge with aquagym, dance therapy and cognitive stimulation activities, demonstrating that the “Renacer” program and the spirit of generational integration are fundamental pillars of current management.

With the closure scheduled for this Friday, January 30, the 2026 Summer Colonies say goodbye having fulfilled the objective of being a space of containment, learning and joy for the entire San Juan family.
