Capcom has many interesting IP in its catalog, and it’s time to return the onimusha series. However, before we get a completely new part, the creators will throw on the ONIMUSHA 2: Samurai’s Destiny market. Is it worth playing this title? Read our review.
Capcom has been systematically noting excellent results for several years, which is obviously related to new parts of iconic IP and full refreshes of previously published hits. The company, however, is not based solely on the most famous titles and adds to the market more smaller games, sometimes it tries its hand with new worlds, and the prime minister’s list is not lacking in very classic refreshments.
The reviewed one belongs to this last group Onimusha 2: Samurai’s DestinyBecause it is not a production that looks very good, it does not offer fundamental changes in the game, and even some returning elements make the title literally show how much has changed from the PlayStation 2 era. The creators had all the tools to delight a wide audience, but at least they currently decided on the title for a very conscious recipient.
A story without surprises
Table of Contents
As you know, the main character Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny There is Jubei Yagyu, who returns to his hometown, but realizes that this place was attacked by demons. Many of his loved ones were killed, and the “sword master” is called to defend humanity. It is Jubei who is to fight Nobunaga Odea, who again wants to conquer all Japan with the sword and that is why the player faces a demanding task.
At the beginning, Jubei is not ready for the most important clash in his life, but the hero meets Takayo, who appoints him to the defender of the Clan they. It is the descendant of the mysterious breed that provides the form of the possibility of absorbing the power of Genm souls and confirms its main goal. The protagonist’s task Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny It is to find five balls, thanks to which the character will develop their abilities and will be ready for the final clash.
The story is not particularly extensive, it is difficult to find surprising threads here, and in fact we are still guided by the hand – years ago the creators did not outdo the building of larger, open worlds, so Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny takes place in the next larger or smaller corridors. From time to time we will enter a larger square, but even in this situation it is difficult to talk about momentum.
The story is not complicated, so finishing the game should not take players more than 9 hours. However, a lot depends on your skills, because Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is distinguished by a high level of difficulty, which is not even associated with the fight, but rather the difficult past of the game.
However, before I go to discussing the game itself, I must definitely mention that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny He builds the hero’s relations with the warriors encountered in a very pleasant way. Jubei is not the only man who is trying to save the world, and on his way he will meet several heroes who can help him at some times – the protagonist basically collects more items systematically, and then give gifts to the co -owners of misery. The Japanese easily build relationships of people who are ready to eliminate the next demons and save the world.
Mr. cameraman to dismissal
At the beginning of the story, Jubei is not ready at the start with an extremely powerful rival, but Capcom has presented the development of the character very well many years ago – the hero receives subsequent powers, can use the next weapons, but definitely his most important advantage is the ability to absorb the energy of opponents. Yellow balls appearing after eliminating demons restore the health of the characters, red allow you to improve weapons, and purple are responsible for entering onimusha mode. This is a special form in which the hero gives very powerful attacks, and at the same time becomes immortal – this option is especially useful when we stand to a duel with a boss or a few larger demons.
I have already mentioned a high level of difficulty, but problems with overcoming enemies are not associated with an extensive battle system or attention -not -noted opponents. Reviewed Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is a perfect example of how much has changed from the PlayStation 2 era – The possibility of controlling the camera is an option that we underestimate now, and the static setting of the perspective can tire at many times.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny It offers several pleasant improvements, but the creators did not take care of the camera in any way, which causes considerable problems, and they can turn into a lot of frustration. Definitely too often entering the next room we do not have a whole picture of action. We do not see where the opponents come from, we do not know how many of them there are, and often we do not even control the attacks that can start when we really cannot see them and it is difficult to contradict them.
It is for this reason Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny He is the best or worst (depending on the perspective) a representative of the times when the players were changing the night at “Czarnulka” from PlayStation. In the times of PS2 it was the norm, but now we are used to much more convenience. In this Capcom proposal, we must learn … to enter the next rooms. Demons appear almost anywhere, so it is necessary to enter the space properly to be able to react well – the block is a very good solution. He also tires you to enter the spots and … immediate return. This is related to a simple matter: sometimes we hold the movement button, which previously worked well, and due to the change of camera setting, the hero returns to the previously visited location.
I would not write about this element, but At ONIMUSHA 2: Samurai’s Destiny Camera is a real problem. Why? Capcom can tire the player, the level of difficulty is often very high, so sometimes the camera can thwart our plans. Even if you learn the right response in the case of normal opponents, then in a few moments of Jubei’s game he has the opportunity to face the bosses and here they actually appear inconveniences.
The demon Jujudormah made me doubt the sense of this refreshment. The creature uses its umbrella to shoot and does it from behind the screen. The player must listen to her movements and … it is an extremely demanding start. The creators did not add health belts to even those major rivals, so it is necessary to observe the opponent to see her movements – at some point she uses new blows, which signals that we are approaching the finals. The second meeting with Gogandantess is also not the most pleasant, because this demon jumps, throws himself and it is very difficult to do anything to him. In fact, this is how this duel should look like, but the camera really does not make the task easier here.
Do you want easier? Or maybe more difficult?
Reviewed Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny does not offer many new products, But one decision of developers can make this title end many players. After a few failures, the player is asked if he wants to jump to Easy Mode and … I will not be surprised when many people decide to do so. All because of a really demanding level of difficulty – especially at the beginning, when we do not expand the hero’s skills, we do not have an even greater arsenal and sometimes it is really difficult to master the situation on the screen.
Capcom also provided Hell Mode, but to be honest I don’t know if I would have enough self -denial to get tired – at this level of difficulty one attack is enough for Jubei to fall to the ground, and the player had to start the adventure from the beginning. Given the camera problems … I don’t believe it would be a pleasure for many people. It will be necessary to use the block and make a strange jumper of the hero, but the lack of targeting significantly hinders such fun.
The creators did not decide on major changes in the clashes. The main character again uses several attacks, it is necessary to change the weapon depending on the enemies, and only proper energy management and making movements related to the elements allows us to successfully end the clashes. Gameplay is often very demanding even at a normal difficulty level, but Jubei has the ability to constantly raise its power – all you have to do is deal with energy farm. Going and entering the next rooms means that enemies always appear, so just spend some time to spend all points on the improvement of one of the weapons or armor in the next step. Progression is in Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny easily visible.
One of the few accessories related to the fight is to enter onimusha mode. In the original it happened automatically – we could not control the situation, and after gathering the right number of power, Jubei changed color and was immortal for a while. Now the player must activate the movement, which is really a great facilitation … Especially in the case of bosses, because we can always keep onimusha for this proper start. Developers have also prepared a small add -on, which, however, will be very helpful – now in the game we are systematically informed about the automatic record. As you know, save can be done in many places, but just because of the high level of difficulty and camera problems, it is often easy to die – especially when we are surprised by an unsigned attack or one enemy will cover the sight, and two more will start cutting the hero … This is where the additional save is useful here. Similarly, as the ability to skip movie cutscenes – I know that not everyone uses this option, but with the next attempt to avoid shots from Jujudormah I appreciated this possibility.
Capcom, of course, did not change the main assumptions of the game, so we still run in the corridors, look for keys, open the door, then we need to use the weapon of the right element to enter the next spots, and after a few hours we basically return to the beginning of the adventure to push the story. In this regard Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny It resembles Metroidvanie popular in recent years, because every new ability opens our way to the next locations. Of course, there were puzzles in the game again: sometimes we have to count the numbers in the row, and at other times we arrange the puzzles by sliding the blocks and setting the patterns. Some tasks are more difficult, but it is always worth stopping for a moment and face the challenge, because as a reward we can, for example, increase the HP or Mana belt.
What else has changed?
Capcom has accustomed players to brilliant refreshments over the years. Many games not only offer new content, it can surprise, for example, with the location of enemies or new locations, but above all the graphics raises adventures to a new level. Reviewed Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny At this point it is … a very classic experience. The creators conquered the resolution of the characters, cutscenes, user interface, fonts, also refined visual effects and refined the background, but it is difficult to talk about new quality. The changes are very basic and although the production looks better than the original, taking into account the work of developers in other games – the changes are very basic.
I can’t complain about the appearance of the main character, his companions or almost all main demons, but in many ordinary enemies or the inhabitants of the surrounding area just look funny. Supporting NPCs did not shine in the case of the original, and by adding them over 20 years on the neck makes it Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny does not present outstanding graphics.
Capcom once again decided to add a gallery to the production. IN Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny You will find over 100 graphics and materials from the work on the original, and you can also turn on an extensive soundtrack. These are not attractions for everyone, but if you grew up in this series, you should appreciate the goods that have been in the Japanese studio archive so far. Among the modest news added to the game by Capcom are alternative outfits for the characters, but new fatals do not quite match the location of events and the story itself.
One of the positive additions that players from our country especially appreciate is … location. Capcom approaches the topic of preparing Polish inscriptions in a rather unusual way, but just Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny He received an additional location, which will definitely be well received by some customers. In the game itself we will not find complicated dialogues, but it is always a nice addition that we hope will now be the standard for this corporation.
Is it worth getting interested in ONIMUSHA 2: Samurai’s Destiny?
Capcom has systematically impressed with refreshed adventures over the years. The creators presented a completely new quality due to the remakes of the Resident Evil series, but Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny returns in a very classic edition.
It will not be a pleasure for players who do not like to bother with the camera or prefer more beautiful views. The creators dealt with modest changes in the game and conquest resolution to ultimately remind players of appreciated production.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny In the new edition, it will not impress everyone, but fans of the series are unlikely to complain. It was for them that this is a modest refreshment – so that the interested parties could withstand in peace until next year, when a full -fledged continuation of the series finally comes.
