Samsung Electronics today announced the One UI 8.5 beta program, introducing new, easier ways to create, connect, and stay secure. One UI 8.5 lets users do more with less effort with improvements that streamline actions, device management, and security.

One UI 8.5: What’s new in content creation?

One UI 8.5 makes creating and sharing content more intuitive from start to finish. Users can generate new images without interruptions with the updated version of Photo Assist [1]. They can also edit photos using Photo Assist functions continuously, without needing to save each change separately. Once they complete the process, they have the ability to review all the creations in their editing history and choose the ones they want to keep.

Sharing content is also easier thanks to improvements in Quick Share [2]which now identifies people present in photos and proactively suggests sending directly to those contacts.

How does One UI 8.5 improve device connectivity?

New cross-device features make it easier to manage each device, whether you’re managing files, sharing the network, or communicating with nearby computers. He Audio Broadcast [3] allows you to establish communication with LE Audio compatible devices using Auracast. In addition to audio from media sources, users can now stream their voice through their Galaxy phone’s built-in microphone, an especially useful option in group situations like tours or events.

The Storage Share [4] Brings even more fluidity to the Galaxy ecosystem by displaying files from other Galaxy devices, including tablets and PCs, directly in the My Files app. It also allows you to access the phone’s content from other Samsung devices, even from the television, which expands the possibilities of use within the home.

How is my Galaxy device protected?

One UI 8.5 strengthens device protection and gives users clearer control over their security settings. Theft Protection (theft protection) keeps phones and their data safe in case of loss or theft. For added security, Failed Authentication Lock automatically locks your screen when too many failed fingerprint, PIN, or password verification attempts occur. Identity verification also covers more settings than before, adding an extra layer of protection.

The One UI 8.5 beta program will initially be available for Galaxy S25 series devices in select markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, starting December 8. Galaxy users can apply to participate in the beta program through the Samsung Members app.
