It was fifth place for artist Carina Dahl (40) in “Shall we dance“, despite solid deliveries on the dance floor throughout the autumn. She lost Saturday’s duel against the former cross-country star Tiril Eckhoff (35).

After the broadcast, a disappointed and slightly shocked Dahl stated that it was hard to go out, and that she had hoped to make it all the way to the final together with her dance partner Ole Thomas Hansen (26).

In an update on Snapchat on Sunday evening, Dahl wrote that she is sobbing herself to sleep, and that it is brutally painful not to be able to join the rest of the journey.

Speaks out: – What hurts the most

It is a sad Carina Dahl who speaks to Nettavisen on Monday.

– The worst thing is not getting to experience what we had planned for the semi-final and final. It is also very painful and strange that the everyday life of dancing is now over. It would have been in two weeks anyway, but it still hurts to miss the next few weeks, she says.

The 40-year-old has had several thoughts about why it was her turn this time.

UPDATE: Carina Dahl posted this on social media on Sunday.

– There are a lot of variables that come into play. We were unlucky that the way we chose to solve the show dance did not go down well with the judges. Although we got 39 points for the first dance and full cheers for the second, So it ended in a duel. And then it was also very unfortunate to face all of Norway’s Olympic princess Tiril.

Dahl says that “Shall we dance” is not only a dance competition, but also a profile competition.

– It has been a very fun, but also demanding adventure, which I would like to have lasted all the way to the end. But all in all, I am very proud and grateful for the last three months.

Got criticized for the dance

Carina Dahl and her dance partner received criticism from the judges for their show dance, which was a tribute to Madonna’s (67) song “Vogue”.

The dance received the lowest score of the evening and the judges felt that they were unable to show the dance style well enough forward.

After the broadcast, Carina Dahl explained that they made an active choice not to vogue, something they must also have explained to the production. The reason was that they did not want to be disrespectful to the vogue community.

Dahl also said that the production must have agreed with the choice to rather be inspired by vogue.

– We were terrified of treading in the hideous history of the vogue environment, so we chose to do it that way. But we stand firm in what we chose to do, the artist told the press on Saturday evening.

TV 2’s press manager Jan Petter Dahl says that it was Carina Dahl and the dance partner themselves who chose to be inspired by the vogue dance style, and that they made the artistic choices around choreography and content on their own.

– As always, the production helped to develop the dance number practically and creatively. However, the criticism from the judges was about the technical level of the various dance styles that were included in the number, and not about the absence of “voguing” per se, Dahl tells Nettavisen.

He continues:

– The judges are always informed about the types of dance numbers to be danced in each broadcast. However, this information does not guide the judges’ evaluation and assessment of the dances. The judges judge exclusively what they see on the floor in the live broadcast.

It is Viggo Venn, Danby Choi, Tale Torjussen and Tiril Eckhoff who are through to the semi-finals next Saturday.
