Ohio Man Found Dead in Chautauqua Lake After Search

The body of Peter Pizzulo, 63, of Cortland, Ohio, was recovered from Chautauqua Lake on Sunday after he went missing while swimming on Saturday. A multi-agency search was conducted.

The body of Peter Pizzulo,63,of cortland,Ohio,who went missing while swimming in Chautauqua Lake,was located on Sunday,according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a submerged swimmer in Chautauqua Lake, north of Chautauqua Institution. The Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team (CCWET) and the department’s marine division responded to the scene but were unable to locate the swimmer. The search was suspended due to darkness and resumed on Sunday morning.

Around noon on Sunday, the New York State Police Underwater Recovery team located the subject using side scan sonar. Divers from CCWET recovered the body, which was identified as Peter Pizzulo, 63, of Cortland, Ohio.
