Odermatt Dominates: Round 1 Results & Analysis

by Archynetys Sports Desk

Marco Odermatt largely dominated the first round of the Beaver Creek giant. The Nidwalden pushed back his first opponents to 0”86. The second round can be followed from 8:50 p.m.

We have the feeling that when he is angry after an average result for him, the boss of world skiing proves intractable afterwards. 5th in the super-G on Friday, Marco Odermatt visibly wants to get his 49th World Cup victory and his 28th giant.

He will have to be as precise from 9 p.m. during the second round, but the skier from Hergiswil has laid the foundations for an excellent performance. His second sector was perfect and he was able to be consistent despite the fatigue that sets in at such a high altitude (nearly 3000 m).

Behind him, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen and Henrik Kristoffersen are 0”86 behind. The other Swiss are a little further away. Winner last year, Thomas Tumler is placed in provisional 5th place at 0”94. Loïc Meillard conceded 1”23 and finds himself 8th. Luca Aerni defended himself well with his 15th place at 1”59. He is ultimately only 0”73 behind the duo in second place.
