Since its announcement, the much talked about prequel to Ocean’s Eleven had to face more than a few unexpected events along the way. The latest of these, confirmed in recent days, was the sudden departure of designated director Lee Isaac Chung due to some creative differences on the project.
However, now it seems that it could be one of the film’s stars who takes matters into his own hands. According to what has emerged in the last few hours, Bradley Cooper he would now be one step away from also obtaining the role of director of the prequel to Ocean’s Eleven.
Additionally, Cooper would also review the screenplay previously handled by Carrie Solomon, with the intention of keeping filming scheduled to begin later this year. If confirmed, the project would become Bradley Cooper’s fourth feature film as director, following his previous ones A Star Is Born, Maestro e Is This Thing On? of last year.
As anticipated in recent months, the cast of the film – which should be titled Oceans – will feature Bradley Cooper, who will play the role that was initially entrusted to Ryan Gosling, and Margot Robbiealso involved as a producer. It should also be present in the cast Benicio del Toro in the role of the designated villain.
Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper should play the parents of Danny Ocean, the protagonist of the 2001 film played by George Clooney, and Debbie, played by Sandra Bullock in Ocean’s 8. In the film the Oceans will teach little Danny and Debbie the art of stealing from the richall against the backdrop of the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.
The original film Ocean’s 11 debuted in 1960, starring i members of the Rat Pack Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Dean Martin. The 2001 remake directed by Steven Soderbergh spawned two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve in 2004 and Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007, which was then followed in 2018 by an all-female spin-off, Ocean’s 8con Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway e Rihanna.
Plus, George Clooney has officially put a fourth chapter of the regular series, which will see the return of Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle, focusing on the close-knit group of thieves now in their old age.
