Nothing Ear (3) Case: New Talk Button Explained [Video]

by Archynetys Technology & Science Desk

Ahead of their launch later this month, Nothing Ear (3) are being shown off in yet another teaser that reveals an updated case with a “talk” button.

In a teaser video on its website, Nothing shows off the design of Ear (3) with the silver and white finish we’ve seen in previous teasers. But the case is what’s far more interesting here.

The overall shape and size of the case is the same as the past few generations, with a transparent lid attached to a new silver base. As we’ve said in past reviews, it can be a little cumbersome, but it works.

What’s new this time is a “talk” button on the front and what looks like a microphone and/or speaker next to the USB-C port. Nothing calls it “Super Mic” but doesn’t go into detail. The pairing button also seems to have been relocated to the base. It’s unclear what “talk” will do, but the logical guess is that it has something to do with Nothing’s ChatGPT integration.

Also new this year is that the case is made from aluminum rather than the plastic of prior generations.

We’re upgrading our design craftsmanship to achieve the ultra-slim design of the ear buds, minimising the clearance between components, and we also re-engineered the metal antenna to a flat finish and controlled its thickness to just 0.35 mm, reaching the current industry limit.

The new design features 100% anodised recycled aluminium on the case, as well as the introduction of smoother curves, a more ergonomic shape and a breakthrough Super Mic.

We’ll hear more on September 18as that’s when Nothing will fully unveil its new earbuds.
