Return to this Musical Sunday at the traditional “Český slavík” (“Czech Nightingale”) awards ceremony, the 63rd of the name, which, on Friday November 22, rewarded, after a public vote, the most popular Czech singers and groups of the moment. Half an hour during which we invite you to listen to a song from each of them.
“Nothing is ever acquired by man: neither his strength nor his weakness nor his heart…”claimed Louis Aragon. Nor even, therefore, the “Czech Nightingale”, and Marek Ztracený learned this the hard way since after being crowned two consecutive times, in 2023 and 2024, it is this year Václav Noid Bárta who, after having represented his country without much success at Eurovision in 2015, was named the most popular Czech singer for the first time in his career.

If, as in previous editions, there is nothing very new under the Czech musical sky this year either, let us nevertheless highlight the tribute paid to Vladimír Mišík who, at the age of 78, made a notable entry into the Pantheon of Czech music. To all honor, it is with him, the great bard Vláďa, unforgettable performer with the group Blue Effect of “Slunečný hrob” (The Sunny Tomb) – one of the most beautiful Czech songs there is -, which is therefore also much more than a simple little nightingale, and another magnificent song entitled, “Vteřiny, měsíce a roky” (“Weeks, months and years”), taken from the eponymous album released in 2024, that we continue this show…

For the rest, Ewa Farna, also winner of this “Český slavík” vintage 2025 in all categories and therefore “Rossignol des rossignols”, remains unsurprisingly the most popular singer, as do the rockers of Kabát in the “group” category or even Calin, singer of Moldovan origins, in that of hip hop and rap. Finally, the “Revelation of the Year” prize went to singer Renne Dang, a rapper of Vietnamese origin… Close your ears, we’re listening to all this… Happy Sunday with Czech music!
