Chega only votes in favor of the program with a governance agreement. Bolieiro maintains his position of not negotiating. A possible solution is the abstention of Ventura’s party, which rejects voting with the PS, and the liberals.

The PS/Açores placed the survival of a second Bolieiro government in the hands of the right. After the announced vote against socialists, Chega will decide whether there will be new elections. The party of André Ventura (national leader) and José Pacheco (regional leader) continues to insist on negotiations with the PSD, but Bolieiro does not give in: it is the others who have to accept the Government’s program. Chega continues to demand integration into the regional government and the exclusion of the CDS and PPM from this executive, something that José Bolieiro will never accept. There is still, however, a solution to avoid new elections in October: abstention of Chega and IL — something that neither of them can rule out, at least for now.

The regional government’s program must necessarily be voted on so that the second Government of José Manuel Bolieiro can continue in office beyond March. The PS has 23 deputies who will vote against, to which will be added the BE’s chronic vote against, which makes 24 deputies against. PSD, CDS and PPM together have 26 deputies. Chega’s power to provoke elections is therefore fundamental.
