Mounted last year in Nationale 2, the senior women in the country of Nestes Handball (PNH) are preparing to play their first official game of the season. This Saturday, at 6 p.m., they face Narbonne in the Coupe de France.
The draw was not mild. Promoted in National 2 last season, the seniors of the PNH are launching their new adventure this Saturday. They will cross the road to Narbonne there, evolving a level above them in National 1, on the occasion of the first round of the Federal French Cup, Saturday at 6 p.m. at the municipal gymnasium.
Since the resumption in early August in early August, the group has already garnered confidence during the Feline tournament, disputed last weekend. The Lannemézanaises took over it on Pechbonnieu Coteaux Handball and on the Toulouse Entente des Félines 31, a new female structure of the metropolis. An encouraging signal before the first big meeting of the season.
“It is a match that arrives very early in our preparation”
This cup match marks especially the resumption of official competitions, more than three months after the final success at Bouillargues Handball Nîmes Méditerranée. That day, on the last day, the PNH had sealed its climb in National 2 by dominating the first of their pool, also in the race for accession.
Faced with Narbonne, the obstacle is size. But for coach Pierrick Haran, the meeting is above all in their preparation. “It is a match that arrives very early in our preparation that we started in early August. In the Federal Cup, we will play clubs with levels of national 1 higher in ours. Our primary goal is not the victory in this match, we already have a lot to do with the championship. We approach it anyway to win it. You have to be in this state of mind so that it is useful in our preparation,” he said.
Anchor in national 2
After their accession, the group’s ambitions are clear: anchoring yourself permanently in National 2. “The objective is to perpetuate the team at this level, but it will undoubtedly take several years”, specifies Pierrick Haran. The hen in which they play brings together teams accustomed to the championship, but also two relegated national 1, the Handball Club Thuir and the CM Floirac Cenon Handball. A demanding configuration, spread over the New Aquitaine basin as well as two teams in western Occitania.
This season, the team continues with the same collective as last year and very few changes. The Lannemezan club also lives a highlight on all of its categories. The – 17 -year -old girls also validated their return to the French championship. There is no doubt that this collective, combative and committed, will be able to approach the Nationale 2 by putting the intensity and efficiency necessary to acclimatize at this level.
