The competition of new and little-known groups “Trouble blice ’26” at the Culture House “Atmoda” continues to gather momentum: after three successful selection evenings on Saturday, November 22, it was the turn of the next three – Kalopsia, Dyakāve and Thaw. According to the organizers, these are “three bands worth hearing right now”.
The audience vote has so far decided several semi-finalists, and the competition is getting tighter and tighter. The organizers point out that “these evenings are the moment when the next names of Latvian rock music appear on the stage, so the audience’s presence and support for these young artists is invaluable.”
This time, three groups will claim a place in the semi-finals, each of which is different, with its own character, sound and story, but all of them have one thing in common – the desire to prove themselves and reach a place in the semi-finals.
“Kalopsia” is a group of five girls who describe themselves as a “journey through sounds, emotions and personal stories” – their music sounds like alternative rock with elements of grunge and punk, but in general “”Kalopsia” is not limited by genres, and each song is like a new milestone in their joint creative path.” The group “Dīkāve” is like a nostalgic look back at the alternative music of the 80s and 90s, which is created by the composition of experienced musicians. By the way, the band’s name is not a coincidence – they have played little, but have worked carefully and passionately on their material for years, so the group has only two concerts, three recorded songs and a suitcase full of musical memories. On the other hand, “Thaw” was formed at the Ernests Lībieš school of rock music, initially playing with “Deftones”, “Slipknot”, “Rage Against the Machine”, “My Chemical Romance” etc. cover versions of heavy music groups, but over time he developed his own handwriting, and at the beginning of 2025, in the Valmiera “Hodila” studio, he created his first demo album “Dziesmas kis adretas nesastjes”.
As usual, the evening will be hosted by Eric Saxon, and DJ Rainer will keep the party going until dawn.
