Kentrell Gaulden, the rapper known as NBA YoungBoy, was among several individuals who received a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump on Wednesday, march 28.

The list of those granted clemency also included real estate figures Todd and Julie Chrisley, and also Michael Grimm, a former member of Congress.

NBA YoungBoy issued a statement expressing his appreciation for the pardon.

“I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the chance to keep building – as a man, as a father, and as an artist,” NBA YoungBoy stated. “This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this.”

He also extended gratitude to Alice Marie Johnson, known as the Pardon Czar, and his lawyer, Brittany K.Barnett. “Big thanks to the Pardon Czar, Ms. Alice Marie Johnson, for fighting for second chances for so many people, and to my lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, for being in my corner and all your hard work to make this possible,” he said.”And thank you to everyone who believed in me.”

Throughout his career, NBA YoungBoy has faced numerous legal challenges, including charges related to firearms and periods of house arrest. Despite these challenges,the Baton Rouge native has released multiple albums and mixtapes,even while incarcerated.

The pardon coincides with NBA YoungBoy’s upcoming 27-city concert tour, wich is scheduled to commence on September 2 in Dallas and is named the Make America Smile Again (MASA) tour.
