BUDAPEST – Hungary, one of the NATO countries, has stated Ukraine as an enemy. The reason is that Kyiv demanded that Budapest stop buying cheap oil and gas from Russia.

This declaration of Ukraine as an enemy was conveyed by Hungarian Prime Minister (PM) Viktor Orban. Even though he is the leader of a European Union and NATO country, Orban has refused to antagonize Moscow since the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out in February 2022.

Budapest has rejected European Union efforts to gradually cut off Russian energy supplies as part of sanctions imposed on Moscow over its war against Kyiv.

Speaking at a campaign rally in the town of Szombathely on Saturday, Orban accused Ukraine of undermining Hungary’s security.
