The BE coordinator says that the Government of Montenegro does not intend to carry out a reduction in the IRC on large companies or a reduction in the IRS or the opening of “health and pensions to the private sector”

The coordinator of the Bloco de Esquerda (BE) considered today that the Government included measures in its program that it does not intend to comply with, such as the reduction of the IRS, and accused PSD and CDS-PP of having a “registration” when it comes to responses for the elderly .

“30 days have passed since this Government came into office and there are some things that we know about the Government and that we are learning about the Government, especially when we read the Government program. We learn to interpret what those words mean, we learn to interpret what the program must fulfill and what the program cannot fulfill”, stated Mariana Mortágua.

The BE leader spoke at the opening of the “Social Security and pensions” meeting, an initiative promoted by the party, in Lisbon.

Among the measures that are “to be complied with”, the BE coordinator pointed out “the reduction in IRC on large companies” or the opening “of health and pensions to the private sector” and considered that the Government does not want to take forward proposals such as “the reduction of VAT on salaries”, claiming it to be “a mistake, a deception”, or “fulfilling promises to public employees in essential sectors”.

“The Government spent a campaign talking about health professionals, about security forces, about court officials, it spent a campaign criticizing the previous Government – and a well-made criticism for failing to respect the careers of these people – and now, when it is your turn to meet with these sectors, with these unions and give them an answer that you promised to give, you are not giving, you are not fulfilling everything you say, it is far below the demands of these sectors”, he stated.

In her intervention, Mariana Mortágua accused PSD and CDS-PP of having a record in responding to the elderly.

“What we remember from the PSD and CDS response to the elderly are the victims of Mota Soares [antigoMinistro da Solidariedade, Emprego e Segurança Social]. Now we don’t know whether or not he will go to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia in Lisbon, but we know what he did when he was minister, it was a law anticipating reforms that left many
