In a concerted effort to enhance road safety, the Quebec City Police Service, in collaboration with police technique students from Cégep de Garneau, recently conducted a thorough awareness campaign targeting secondary schools across the Quebec region. This initiative underscores a commitment to preventative education, aiming to instill responsible driving habits in young individuals before they become seasoned drivers.

on the Ground: Practical Experience for Future Officers

Approximately 125 students, enrolled in the planned and directed operation course, were strategically deployed across eight secondary schools within the Greater Quebec region. Their primary objective was to engage with young drivers and moped operators, emphasizing the critical importance of adhering to traffic laws, utilizing mandatory safety equipment, and comprehending the inherent risks associated with driving, particularly when faculties are impaired.

This hands-on experience provided invaluable practical training for the police technique students,allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. Such initiatives are crucial, considering that, according to the Statistics Canada,young drivers (aged 16-24) are disproportionately represented in traffic accidents.
