Montcuq Song Festival 2024: Lineup Revealed

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

The program for the next Montcuq text song festival is complete and tickets are on sale. Developed by Gérard Morel, the artistic director of the Musique Cours et Granges association, chaired by Martin Bygate, this 21st edition will take place from July 22 to 25, 2026, in the main courtyard of the Montcuq college.

The opening will take place on Wednesday July 22, at 7 p.m., with speeches and a friendly – and free – inauguration where the public will be able to discover a young singer from Lot, Emmanuel Leroy.

The evening of July 23 will be entirely feminine, deliciously zany, willingly comical and a bit naughty, with the whimsical Nawel Dombrowsky and the crazy quartet of Voluptueuses: Nathalie Miravette, Dorothée Daniel, Amandine Roques and Clélia Bressat-Blum, in a repertoire of titillating songs.

The second evening will be devoted to the performers. Stéphane Balmino, warm voice and generous guitar, will deliver a lively rereading of the work of Quebecer Richard Desjardins. Then Lou Casa, with his usual elegance and humor, will tell us about an intense and unexpected Jacques Brel.

It was Jean Guidoni who was going to close the event, with the magnificent show he had just created last June at the Café de la Danse in Paris. Everything was ready and he was delighted to come to the Lot when the terrible news of his death fell, carried away by a devastating illness, depriving us forever of his smile, his kindness, his friendship, his immense talent. But how can we still pay homage to him? It was then that the association thought of the beautiful show that Yves Jamait had presented around ten years ago around Guidoni’s work. Yves Jamait accepted this challenge and will therefore close the festival on Saturday July 25, singing Guidoni, but also his own songs. The first part of this exceptional concert will be provided by Chloé, hard-core rocker and winner of the Café chantant 2025.

The two traditional – and increasingly popular – meetings are maintained every day: the aperitif meetings at 11:30 a.m. in the pretty bucolic garden near the town hall, then, at 4 p.m., the Café chantant, an open stage which takes place on the village Promenade, with six singers scheduled each day.

As for the association’s team, supported by a cheerful troop of volunteers, they are already on top of their game to prepare, with the smile and enthusiasm that we know, a simple and family welcome.
