There are only three players who have managed to win Masters 1000 matches while being younger than Moïse Kouame, since 1990 and the official creation of this tournament category. Besides Nadal, there was Richard Gasquet (who was not yet 16 years old when he reached the first round in Monte-Carlo in 2002 against the Argentinian Franco Squillari) and the Romanian Dinu Pescariu, 17 years and 11 days old when he won a match in Monte-Carlo in 1991 against the Argentinian Franco Davin, by retirement. If Gasquet then reached Grand Slam semi-finals and 7th place in the world, Pescariu has never done better than 75th ATP in 1998.
