The offer of training in medicine and engineering of health and nursing sciences has just strengthened in Marrakech, with the opening of the campus of Mohammed VI University of Sciences and Health (UM6SS).
“The creation of this university is part of the strengthening of university and scientific research infrastructure, in accordance with high royal orientations, aimed at ensuring human resources in the health sector and guaranteeing their upgrade and adaptation to scientific and technological evolution”, noted the director general of the Marrakech and Dean Campus of the Mohammed VI Faculty, Ahmed Ghassan El ADIB, during a press conference, organized on Wednesday for the presentation of the sectors offered by this higher education establishment. And to explain that this campus is part of the project to create a university hospital pole at the level of the ocher city, carried by the Mohammed VI foundation of science and health, and which also includes the realization of the Mohammed VI hospital complex in Marrakech.
This campus, which brings together the Mohammed VI Faculty of Medicine, the Mohammed VI Higher School of Health Sciences and the Mohammed VI Faculty of Nursing Sciences and Health Professions, allows students to flourish, thanks to its university residences, cultural and sporting activities, as well as the relaxation areas it has, he insisted.
Pr. Ghassan El Adib, in this context, noted that courses will begin in September 2025, at the UM6SS campus in Marrakech, indicating that the joint access competition for the university year 2025-2026 will be organized on July 13, simultaneously on all UM6SS campuses (Rabat, Casablanca, Dakhla, Marrakech and Agadir).
He also wanted to recall that the UM6SS undertakes to promote excellence and equity through a scholarship program, specifying that scholarships are intended for the most deserving students, regardless of their financial situation, by valuing their academic journey.
In parallel, he continued, social scholarships are set up to strengthen equity and allow more students to access quality training, noting that these two initiatives reflect the commitment and social responsibility of the UM6SS in favor of inclusive and excellence.
During this press conference, Pr. Ghassan El Adib also presented the construction project of the hospital-university complex Mohammed VI of Marrakech, whose opening is scheduled in 2027, noting that this hospital structure will have 300 beds and places, 10 operating blocks, 50 resuscitation beds and intensive care, as well as advanced equipment.
Leader in its field, the UM6SS which opened its doors in 2014, aims to ensure the training of experts and skills in the sciences of science and health and to promote research and expertise in order to meet the needs of populations.
The University has nearly 8,100 students, including more than 350 foreign students, and offers medical training, dental medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, biomedical engineering, health sciences and techniques, public health, biosciences and biotechnologies and governance, and leadership and behavioral sciences.
