BOGOTÁ – Carlos Eduardo Mora gonzález was captured and prosecuted for his alleged participation in the attack on senator Miguel uribe Turbay, which occurred on Saturday, June 7 during a political event in southern Bogotá. The Prosecutor’s Office charged him with the crimes of an attempt of aggravated homicide,illegal carrying of firearms and use of minors in the commission of crimes.

This isn’t the first time Mora González’s name has surfaced in connection to criminal activities. In June 2024,he faced a criminal process for the crime of traffic and carrying weapons for the private use of the Armed Forces. Reports indicate that a year prior, he was implicated in a similar incident.

Investigators believe Mora was more than just a logistics facilitator in the attack on the senator, suspecting he has previous ties to criminal organizations and possesses knowledge of armament management.

evidence suggests that Mora conducted reconnaissance of the location days before the attack. On the day of the incident, he was allegedly inside the vehicle from which the gun was delivered and where the minor who shot at Uribe changed clothes.

Other Legal Issues

Carlos Eduardo Mora González’s legal troubles extend beyond criminal charges. In May 2024, he was summoned by the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF) as part of an administrative process concerning the rights of his minor daughter.

Mora González was reportedly based in Florencia Caquetá, and authorities are investigating potential links to criminal organizations.
