Miguel Castro Salazar, table paratennis athlete, class TT7, proudly describes his role in the Parapan American Youth Games, and claims to be happy to represent Caldas and Colombia in an international championship. Miguel, won two bronze medals in doubles beating the teams of Mexico and Panama, although in the semifinals, they lost against the local team. In mixed doubles, they reached the same stage, being surpassed by Brazil.

“It is an honor to represent the department and Colombia in other countries. In men’s doubles we beat Mexico, then with Chile it was a very difficult match and against them we lost in the semifinal. In mixed doubles, against Brazil, the same thing happened in the same instance, but in general they were good matches, good balls and it was close.”

He says that in the mixed doubles quarterfinals, they played against Costa Rica, winning 3-2, and against Guatemala, they moved on to the next phase with a resounding 3-0; Miguel, formed the duo with Guilliana Carrillo. “It is a positive balance for me in these second youth games, the first were in Bogotá in 2023 where I won silver and bronze medals.”

The next challenge for Miguel Castro is a national championship that would be held in the city of Medellín, although the venue is expected to be confirmed, this will be the last competition of the year.
