Michał Urbaniak struggled with health problems

The last year of Michał Urbaniak’s life was marked by serious health complications. At the beginning of 2024, Urbaniak underwent a planned cardiac procedure, which was initially supposed to be routine. Unfortunately, there were complications – the artist was placed in a medically induced coma for five days. In an interview for “Viva!” he recalled:

“I had a great adventure, because during a minor cardiac procedure there were complications, that’s one of the reasons why I now have a voice like Miles Davis. I was in a medically induced coma for five days,” he admitted.

After waking up, he spent over 47 days in the ICU and cardiology department. In an interview with “Super Express” he admitted: “It was difficult because it was like that I was in a medically induced coma for five days and then 47 days in the ICU, then in cardiology, and then rehabilitation“, which I’m still finishing today in semi-hospital mode, but I’m already walking because after a few months of lying in bed I couldn’t stand on my feet.”

Waking up was only the beginning of a long and difficult road – the musician had to undergo intensive rehabilitation to regain fitness. For many months he struggled with mobility problems and used a walker. As noted by “Poradnik Zdrowie”:

“Michał Urbaniak […] he couldn’t get back on his feet after the coma. […] then rehabilitation, which I’m finishing today in a semi-hospital setting, but I’m already walking because after a few months of lying in bed I couldn’t get back on my feet.

As Urbaniak himself told TVP Info, he had surreal experiences during his coma: “I was flying to New York from Okęcie, there were two rockets, not a plane, and I met a friend. We started talking, we didn’t say where anyone was going, because it was known that it was to New York. The stewardess says in Russian: “We’re going to Moscow.” I spent some time there, I had an affair with artificial intelligence – the machine was next to me and this hand came out and gave me an injection every few minutes and they took blood, and I was just anemic and lacking blood.. I say: “nielza, nielza, I will pay you back later, but I have to make some of the blood myself. There was a lot going on there,” Urbaniak said.
